A material can be found by either using the standard search functions or by using the material finder wizard.
As well as maintaining the basic material data, this screen also maintains the links between a material and industry types and also between a material and EWC codes.
If a material is a Weee material then it must have a Weee category.
Any fields which are mandatory and left blank will be highlighed when the update or create buttons are clicked. A message will explain why the data has not been saved.
Some fields are numeric and these will show a vaildation error if non numeric data is entered when the update or create buttons are clicked.
Create : When the screen is clear, you may be able to enter a new record and click the create button (if you have permission)
Update : When the screen is populated, you may be able to enter update the record (if you have permission)
Retrieve : Get the record from the database. This is where you want to lose your changes.
Search : Search for a material. Searchable fields have green labels.
Clear : Clear the screen. Do this before you want to search.

If you find your material this way and
select a material in the wizard, the screen should retrieve that material
automatically.To manage the association or industry types with a material, first retrieve a material and then use the > and < buttons to move industry types from a not linked to linked state and vice versa. The EWC codes work in exactly the same way. If you cannot read the full text of any entries in these list boxes, double click the entry and a popup will show you the full text.
